The Thep Timeworks approach
Every engagement begins the same way: with an unhurried look at the watch. Whether a piece has come in for a standard service or something more complex, the watchmaker examines it carefully before anything is discussed. What we find, we share — in plain terms, without unnecessary jargon.
From that assessment, a written plan is prepared. It states what the work involves, which parts may need attention, and what the cost will be. The owner reads it, asks questions if they have them, and decides whether to proceed. Nothing begins until that agreement is in place.
During the work itself, the owner is kept informed. If something unexpected is found — a worn pinion, a cracked jewel, an original part that needs a decision about replacement — we stop and communicate before continuing. We believe the owner should be part of the process, not simply presented with a finished result.
Assessment
We examine the piece carefully and share what we find. No charge at this stage.
Written Plan
Scope and cost are set out in writing. Work begins only with the owner's agreement.
Service or Restoration
The work proceeds at the pace it genuinely requires. Owner kept informed throughout.
Timing and Quality Check
The movement is tested across multiple positions and the results documented.
Return with Documentation
The watch is returned with service notes and, where applicable, original removed parts.
Service 01
Movement Clean and Regulate
A thorough service for mechanical watches — the movement is dismantled, cleaned, re-lubricated, and regulated so it runs steadily once more. Recommended for watches that have not been serviced in several years, or that have begun to keep poor time. We explain the work plainly, welcome questions, and offer a service warranty once the watch is returned.
Turnaround is usually a few weeks, and we keep the owner gently informed of progress throughout.
Full movement disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning
Re-lubrication with grade-appropriate watch oils
Timing regulation across multiple positions
Inspection of keyless works and crown mechanism
Case cleaning and gasket inspection if appropriate
Service 02
Complication Adjustment and Repair
A focused repair for added functions — date displays, chronograph mechanisms, and moon-phase or day indicators — that have stopped working smoothly. We assess the complication, attend to the parts involved, and restore reliable operation, explaining what is possible before proceeding.
All parts and costs are confirmed beforehand, so the owner remains fully in control. Well suited to watches with extra functions that the owner relies on or values.

Service 03
Full Vintage Restoration
An attentive restoration for vintage and inherited watches needing substantial care — including movement rebuilding, replacement of worn parts, and conservation of original features. The aim is to return the timepiece to dependable life while honouring its history and patina.
Each restoration begins with an unhurried assessment and a written plan agreed with the owner, completed at the measured pace such delicate work calls for. Recommended for collectible and treasured pieces.

All regulated movements are checked on a timing machine across multiple positions. Results documented.
Secure storage and handling
All pieces logged on receipt and stored securely. Returned only to the owner or confirmed representative.

Progress communication
Owner informed at meaningful stages. Questions answered by the watchmaker, not a service intermediary.
